Article from Kent Messenger September 2000

THE sound of a brass band always adds grace and pace to summer gatherings. The Cranbrook Town Band attracts musicians from across the Weald and is currently seeking a principal cornet for concerts and contests and a kit percussionist to play a set of new drums. the National Lottery bought the full kit for the band, along with tam-tam, pedal timpani and glockenspiel. Cranbrook Town Band is a 2nd section band and competes at contests in the spring and autumn, winning a first prize in October 1999. rehearsals are held every Thursday from 7.45pm to 10.00pm at Angley school, Cranbrook. the Youth Band meets before-hand at 7pm. The old percussion kit has been given to the group, which has about 15 members. New players will be welcome at both rehearsals.
