Nov 2008 – Children in Need Concert

Around the World in 80 Minutes

Cranbrook Town Band gave a “Round the World” tour with the music played at this years concert at the Queens Hall, in aid of the BBC Children in Need Appeal.

Starting in England with the march Death or Glory, the band proceeded to take the audience around the globe with music from each of the continents. It was a close call for our conductor who nearly missed the train (and stage – see video) at the start of the concert, but once on board Ian entertained the audience with some “above average” jokes.

As usual the second half of the concert started with music from the instrumentalists and choir from Hawkhurst Primary School which gave the band a well needed rest and set the standard for the second half of the concert wonderfully. Our Congratulations go to them and their school for an enthralling performance which was enjoyed by all.

The full programme is listed below, and you can view video clips from some of the pieces by using the link above.

The band were pleased to be able to send off a cheque for £600 from the proceeds of the concert towards the appeal.
