Vicky began playing at the age of 7 in the Junior band of the Rhondda-based Treherbert and District Silver Band. She went on to become the Principal cornet player of the Treorchy Comprehensive School Band, and the Mid Glamorgan Youth Brass Band, competing in National and European Youth Championships with them, representing Wales.

As a teenager, Vicky became a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, and played with this band for 4 years. At this time, Vicky became the first female member in the two remaining all-male Championship section bands in Wales – firstly playing solo cornet with the Park and Dare Band, before briefly becoming a  member of the Cory Band.

During this same period, Vicky competed in many different competitions as a soloist, winning several prestigious competitions – Welsh Champion; Urdd Eisteddfod Champion; Rhondda Young Musician of the Year.

Vicky went on to study music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she received excellent tuition from Paul Cosh on the trumpet, and Noel Tredinnick in conducting and arranging.

Vicky now leads a busy music department in a secondary school in South East London, teaching Music and Music Technology to students aged 11-18.
