Emma Barsley

Flugel Horn (2007-Current)

(2nd Cornet 1999 - 2007)

About

Emma decided to join the band after picking up her Dad’s cornet and finding she could get a decent note out of it ! She continued to learn how to play and read music from playing with the youth band and, in time, sitting in with the main band around the year 1999.

She has a long family history of brass banding with both grandfather, dad and uncles all playing an instrument. (Her dad also played Repiano cornet in the band for a number of years.)

A committed member of the band, rarely missing from rehearsals or concerts, Emma moved from 2nd cornet to take over the position of Flugel Horn in 2015 when Chris Cannings retired from the position.

Outside of banding, Emma is a keen baker and has won many favourable reviews for her cakes and biscuits which are particularly enjoyed by other band members when she brings them along for rehearsal weekends.

In 2023 Emma married Charles and the band were delighted to play at their wedding reception. See the Related News button for full details.
